Delicious food from around the world, funky tunes and a chilled atmosphere – the night market in Melbourne is not to be missed. We have summarised the best bits below!
Food, Food and More Food! Wednesday nights were always something to be looked forward to in Melbourne as not only can you eat paella, buritos, shrimp, Dutch Pancakes and so many more amazing dishes, it is also a great place to catch up with friends, relax with a beer and enjoy the company of the friendly locals.
There are so many different types of food, that you will never have been so spoilt for choice. There are over 100 different vendors from practically every corner of the globe, so it will take you a while to decide what to eat on the first night! The Spanish food is great here; paella with chorizo followed by a few tequilas is a common favourite.
Get past the thousands of hungry Melbourners and travellers and you will find something you’ll love, great for meat lovers and vegetarians too. If you have room, work your way around to the deserts from Dutch pancakes to the delicious Churros Ole (Spanish Doughnuts).
Each week there are two different live music bands, magicians, buskers and various other performers dotted around the market. Plenty to keep us entertained.
The Melbourne Night Market opens at 5pm, so it’s perfect for heading straight after work and grabbing a selection of food before enjoying the sunset over the Melbourne skyline with a cold beer. Sadly the night market is only runs for about 15 weeks run so get there in good time. It’s easy to get to with four trams stopping nearby, bicycle parking and a car park too.
Overall, Melbourne is great city to visit, and this market really does make it one of the best places to visit in Australia. The variation, friendly atmosphere and climate are all perfect.
